Expert in team dynamics, workplace culture, and public relations

ABOUT KEVIN KING

For 22 years, I have worked in the sport, entertainment, and higher education industry—I have learned so much! I developed a skill set in public relations that has evolved into other disciplines within this industry, which include higher education, college athletics, workplace and team culture, media and social media. I have been able to work with teams at every level of sport—professional, collegiate—division I, II, III, and NAIA, as well as high school student-athletes. My experience and education has allowed me to create my own brand, and to provide an array of services to individuals and companies like yourself. Those services include:

  • Leadership development and team building

  • Media and social media training

  • Keynote addresses

  • Media analyst

My career began after graduating from Eastern Michigan University with a Bachelor’s degree in organizational communication, and a minor in health administration. I began my career by completing public relations internships with the Minnesota Vikings, Detroit Lions, Chicago White Sox, and at the University of Michigan. Following my internships, I worked for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, World Wrestling Entertainment/XFL, and the American Red Cross.  These opportunities increased my knowledge in the following areas:

  • Executive and team leadership

  • Entertainment publicity

  • Consumer products and behavior

  • Non profits

  • Public affairs

  • Public and media relations

  • Journalism

  • Community relations

These amazing opportunities laid the ground work for me entering the higher education and the intercollegiate athletics field. I began as the program director for sport management at Madonna University (Livonia, MI); which led me to becoming an adjunct faculty member in the University of Michigan’s sport management program; the director of student-athlete development and graduate faculty member in the sport administration program at Central Michigan University; and a sport management faculty member at the University of Wisconsin—La Crosse. I also served as the director of player development and coaching consultant for UW-L football.

During my time in higher education, I advanced my education by earning a Master of Arts degree in sports administration from Wayne State University, and also by completing the prestigious sports management institute executive program at the University of Michigan and the University of Texas business schools. These experiences in higher education has given me expertise in the following areas:

  • Higher education administration

  • Sport leadership

  • Student-athlete development

  • Sport management professor

  • Media and social media

  • Media analyst

  • Student affairs

With this unique combination of skills sets, education, and experience, I am able to work independently and apply  my expertise to corporate executives, coaches, student-athletes, and professional organizations.

Thank you for taking the time to read my story. I look forward to meeting you soon!
