About Kevin King
Expert in team dynamics, workplace culture and public relations.
I bring experience in sport, entertainment and higher education to my work with executives, coaches, student-athletes and professional organizations.
My career has taken me from professional sports organizations to university classrooms. Today, I draw on that background to help people develop their leadership and communication skills.
From professional sport to the classroom
I have worked with teams across professional sports, collegiate Divisions I, II and III, and the NAIA, as well as high school student-athletes. Each setting has added to the experience I bring to my work.
A foundation in public relations
My career began with public relations internships with the Minnesota Vikings, Detroit Lions, Chicago White Sox and the University of Michigan. I went on to work for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, World Wrestling Entertainment/XFL and the American Red Cross.
That foundation broadened my experience in executive and team leadership, entertainment publicity, public affairs, media relations and community relations. It also introduced me to the work of nonprofits, journalism, and consumer products and behavior.
Teaching and student-athlete development
I entered higher education as program director for sport management at Madonna University in Livonia, Michigan. I also served as an adjunct faculty member in the University of Michigan’s sport management program.
At Central Michigan University, I served as director of student-athlete development and a graduate faculty member in sport administration. At the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, I served as a sport management faculty member, as well as director of player development and coaching consultant for UW-L football.
These roles brought together my work in sport leadership, student-athlete development, higher education administration and student affairs.

Bachelor’s degree in organizational communication, with a minor in health administration.
Wayne State University
Master of Arts degree in sports administration.

Executive program completed at the University of Michigan and University of Texas business schools.
